Is Mixbook good for a scrapbook? Compared with tbf scrapbook

Mixbook is good at printed photo books, with scrapbook themes and stickers. For tickets, letters, voice notes and video, with family adding pages, tbf scrapbook fits better.

Start with 40 pages free. No card needed.

Mixbook's own pages and help articles were read on 29 October 2026, in its US and UK stores.

The question is what kind of book you want. A photo book shows photographs in a designed layout. A scrapbook also keeps the ticket, the letter and the voice.

What Mixbook does well

Mixbook Studio is a photo book editor with eleven scrapbook themes, among them Kraft Scrapbook and Digital Scrapbook.

You get stickers, borders and backgrounds, and you can upload your own. Story Mode drafts the book for you with AI.

Hardcovers run from 20 to 400 pages, in sizes from 6 by 6 up to 14 by 11 inches.

Where it stops for a scrapbook

Mixbook does not say a page can hold a video or a voice recording. Mixbook Movies is a separate video of the finished book, offered at checkout.

Inviting people works by email, and everyone needs a Mixbook account. Up to 30 can collaborate, and one person edits at a time.

Sizes are in inches, so an A4 page or a 21 cm square is not on the list.

What tbf scrapbook does differently

tbf scrapbook is a scrapbook first. Scanned tickets, letters and handwriting sit beside the photos, and a clip or a voice note plays on the same page.

One invitation link lets family send photos, words, audio and video from their phones, with no account for them. You choose what goes on the page.

It prints as softcover, hardback or lay-flat in A4 portrait, A4 landscape or 21 cm square. Each recording in the print gets a code that opens it.

Price, side by side

Mixbook lists a 20 page hardcover from US$29.99 at 8 by 6 inches, or £24.99 at 8.5 by 8.5 inches in its UK store, then US$1.19 or £1.19 a page.

A tbf scrapbook is free for forty pages, read online with a watermark. One book of up to 300 pages is £19 or US$25 once, and the print is priced after the proof.

Steps

  1. Name what goes in

List the things that are not photos: tickets, letters, a recording. If there are none, a photo book does the job.

  2. Count the people adding to it

One maker suits Mixbook. A family adding pages from different places suits a link.

  3. Pick the size in centimetres

Measure the shelf or the frame, then match it to A4, a 21 cm square or an inch size.

  4. Price the book you will make

Price the page count you expect, not the starting one.

Questions

Is Mixbook good?

For a printed photo book, yes: plenty of themes, sizes and covers. For a scrapbook with tickets, letters, voice and video from several people, it is a thinner fit.

Can you scrapbook in Mixbook?

Yes, with its scrapbook themes, stickers and your own uploaded backgrounds. Pages hold photos and text; Mixbook does not say they hold video or audio.

What is a Mixbook alternative for a real scrapbook?

tbf scrapbook, which keeps scans, words, clips and voice notes on the page, lets family add pages from one link and prints in A4 or 21 cm square.
