Three-photo scrapbook layout ideas

Arrange three photos as one main image with two supporting views, a chronological strip or an equal group. Give the reader a clear starting point and keep related details beside their scene.

Choose three different stages or views. Repeated poses use page space without showing more of the occasion.

The equal-box sketch suits three equally important photos. Try a larger main image with two smaller details when one picture needs more space.

Try this in your own scrapbook

Choose a main photo or a three-step sequence

Make the main image larger when the other two show details from it. For three stages of an activity, use equal boxes in left-to-right order.

Fit mixed orientations without forcing crops

A 6 by 4-inch landscape above two 3 by 4-inch portraits forms a block 8.5 inches high with a 0.5-inch gap between rows.

For a tall main image, try a 5 by 7-inch portrait beside two stacked 4 by 3-inch landscapes. The full block is 9.5 inches wide with a 0.5-inch column gap.

Place a shared keepsake beneath the group

A short ticket or your own writing can sit beneath the whole group. Keep it aligned to the image block instead of extending far into the margins.

If the pictures need different names or dates, put the words beside each one. Keep a shared explanation beneath the group only when it applies to all three.

Place the photos

  1. Landscape above portraits

Place a 6 by 4-inch image at top position 1.75 inches. Put two 3 by 4-inch portraits below at 6.25 inches, with a 0.5-inch gap.

  2. Portrait beside landscapes

Use a 5 by 7-inch portrait on the left and two 4 by 3-inch images on the right. Align their tops and leave 0.5 inches between the smaller images.

  3. Three-picture strip

Use three 3 by 4-inch portraits with two 0.5-inch gaps. The row is 10 inches wide; centre it and keep the order left to right.

  4. Three stages with context

Use three 3 by 2-inch landscapes in a row, occupying 10 inches including gaps. Place the related object below the row, inside the same width.

Questions

What is a useful layout for three mixed-shape photos?

Try one large landscape above two smaller portraits, or one tall portrait beside two stacked landscapes. Both preserve a clear main image.

Can three photos fit in a single row?

On a 12-inch square, three 3-inch-wide images with two 0.5-inch gaps form a 10-inch row. Use smaller images only if the details remain readable.

How can I show three steps in a scrapbook?

Give the images equal boxes in left-to-right order, keeping any related date or object close to the group. Choose photographs showing visibly different stages.
