Make a wedding cards scrapbook you can read
Arrange a wedding cards scrapbook so the whole card and its inside remain readable. Group cards by people or size, and photograph both sides for a digital version.
Count and measure the cards before choosing the book. Folded cards, small gift tags and oversized envelopes need different amounts of space.
Keep the sender identifiable. Photograph the inside as well as the front, and make sure you can match the two images later.
Make a book from these memories
Add your photos and keepsakes, then put the book together in your browser.
Choose what to show from each card
If you want to keep complete originals, plan pages that allow the card to open. If space is limited, use photographs of the outside and inside beside one another.
- Photograph the full front, then the inside, in the same light.
- Name the two image files so their card number matches, such as card-01-front and card-01-inside.
- Include the envelope only when its design or postmark adds something you want to keep.
Group by sender or card size
Group cards by senders to make people easy to find. For a paper album, group by size if that fits better, then add an index.
- Put very large cards on a spread of their own.
- Keep small gift tags together without covering their writing.
Check before sharing card interiors
Before sharing a page online, check both sides for addresses and other private details. Ask the writer before showing their handwriting publicly.
- Check envelopes for addresses and phone numbers.
- Show the card front alone when permission for the inside is unclear.
Pages to make
Family cards
Arrange two whole card fronts on the left. Give their inside views the right page, in the same order.
Friends at the wedding
Place one guest-group photograph above the cards from that group. Keep individual senders identifiable.
Small tags and notes
Use a regular grid for small items, leaving clear space between them and keeping each back paired with its front.
Oversized favourites
Give the largest card a full page. Put its inside opposite so the writing does not need to shrink.
Questions
Do I have to cut up wedding cards for a scrapbook?
You can keep the originals intact and arrange photographs of the front and inside. A paper book can also use a suitably sized removable holder.
What order should wedding cards go in?
Group them by senders if finding people matters most. Use size groups if the physical fit is the main constraint, then add your own index.
Can wedding cards go in the main wedding book?
A few can fit beside photographs of the senders. A large collection is easier to browse as its own section or separate book.
