What Storyworth does well

It sends the questions and the reminders, so the stories keep coming. Memoirs storytellers can tell a story by phone and have it typed up.

A memoir book carries a QR code on its last page that opens the stories and recordings.

Memoirs costs US$69 for black and white, US$99 for colour or US$199 for Unlimited, which then renews at US$99 a year.

Where a family scrapbook needs more

Every book is a 6 by 9 inch hardcover laid out by Storyworth, mostly text with photos.

In Editions each person sends one piece of writing and photos. Its pages do not mention audio or video there.

Allow 5 to 6 weeks from the start to the books, and prices are in US dollars.

tbf scrapbook as the alternative

Each person adds their own page from one link: photos, a few lines, a voice note or a short video. You lay the pages out as you like.

Scanned letters, cards and tickets sit beside the photos from the same year.

The book is read online straight away, downloads on a paid plan and prints in A4 or a 21 cm square, with a code beside each recording.

Choosing between them

Pick Storyworth when one parent will write a year of answers and wants the questions sent to them.

Pick tbf scrapbook when many people are adding photos, keepsakes and recordings, and the look of each page matters.

Pages to make

  1. Decide who is writing

One person over a year, or many people at once.

Writing alone, or photos, letters and recordings too.

  3. Set the day you need it

Count back from the occasion and leave time for printing.

  4. Send the link with one question

Ask one thing, such as a day they remember, so people know where to start.
