Making your Algarve photo book
The Algarve is a coast, and a tall page gives the cliffs their full height. Ponta da Piedade near Lagos gives you sea stacks and arches for the opening spread. The cave at Benagil, with the round hole in its roof, needs a page on its own. Praia da Marinha and Praia do Camilo, with its long wooden stair down, go in the middle. Finish at Cabo de São Vicente, the south-west tip of Europe, or east in Tavira among the salt pans.
The cliffs face south and glow orange in the last hour of the day, and the boardwalk at Ponta da Piedade is the place to watch it. Benagil can only be entered from the water, by kayak or boat, and the light through the roof is best around midday. Slip in the boat ticket and a cataplana menu from a harbour place in Lagos.
