Making your Istanbul photo book
Istanbul is split by the Bosphorus, and the book can be too. Put the European side on the first spread, Galata Tower over the Karaköy rooftops and the old city seen from the ferry. The second spread suits the Bosphorus Bridge from below its towers. Spread three can take the Blue Mosque and the garden courts of Topkapı in Sultanahmet. Close with the Asian shore at Kadıköy and a glass of tea on the ferry back.
The ferry gives the best views of the city, so ride the Kadıköy boat at sunset and stand at the back. Galata and the Golden Horn hold up well in black and white if you want a page or two without colour. Keep an İstanbulkart receipt or the wrapper of a sugar cube from a tea house to photograph flat. Carry a scarf for the mosques.
