Making your Amsterdam photo book
Amsterdam's canals run in rings, and the book works outwards. Gabled houses on the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, a bridge in front, fill the opening pages. The Jordaan and the Nine Streets between the canals come next. Then the bikes, parked three deep outside Centraal. Close with flowers: the stalls of the Bloemenmarkt, built on barges, on the Singel, or the fields at Keukenhof if you went in spring.
The houses lean forward on purpose, so goods could be hauled up past the windows on the beam at the top. After dark, stand where the Reguliersgracht meets the Herengracht and you can count seven bridges lit with bulbs in a line.
