Making your Barcelona photo book
Barcelona is a city of rooftops, so build the book around height. Open with the view from the Bunkers del Carmel, then a corner of the Eixample, where every block has its corners cut off. Park Güell's mosaic bench and the Sagrada Família can share the second spread. The third belongs to the old town, the Boqueria's fruit stalls and the narrow lanes of El Born. Montserrat, an hour out by train, is enough for the last.
Climb Montjuïc or the Carmel hill in the hour before sunset, when the city goes pink and the sea goes flat. The flower tile on the cover is the pattern under your feet on Barcelona's pavements, so photograph one straight down. A metro card and the paper bill from a vermouth bar both lie flat on a page.
