Making your Cape Town photo book
Cape Town's book starts with the mountain, because every view in the city is measured against it. See it first across the bay from Bloubergstrand. Then work round it: the painted houses of Bo-Kaap and the boats at the V&A Waterfront on one side, Chapman's Peak Drive and the penguins at Boulders Beach on the other. That leaves the last pages for the winelands and a long lunch in Franschhoek or Stellenbosch.
The cable car stops when the wind is up or the tablecloth cloud comes down, so check it in the morning and go when it runs. Lion's Head at sunset gives the best photo of the city, but take a torch for the walk down. A wine farm's tasting sheet belongs in the book, photographed on the table where you filled it in.
