Making your Dubai photo book
The coffee pot on the cover is a dallah, and old Dubai deserves as much of the book as the towers. Begin on the water at Dubai Creek, where the abras cross and dhows unload cargo at Deira. The wind towers and courtyards of Al Fahidi sit well opposite. The Marina and the Burj Khalifa at night belong together on the third spread. Save the fourth for the desert, red dunes in late light and the camp fire afterwards.
Midday sun flattens everything here, so shoot between four o'clock and dusk, when the haze turns gold. In the summer months go out at first light instead, before the heat. Your At the Top ticket and the paper cup from a karak tea stand are small, and they say more about the trip than a tenth photo of the skyline.
