Making your Dubrovnik photo book
Dubrovnik is a walled town on a rock, and walking the walls gives you most of this book. The orange roofs, shot from the walls near the Pile Gate, open it. The Stradun, the main street polished smooth by feet, follows. Lovrijenac fortress on its own cliff looks best from the walls or the sea. For the end, ride the cable car up Mount Srđ, the old town small below, or take the boat to Lokrum.
The walls open early and the cruise crowds come at around ten, so the first hour up there is the quiet one. Many roofs were retiled after the shelling of 1991, and from the walls you can pick out the bright new tiles beside the faded old ones.
