Making your Lanzarote photo book
Lanzarote is black ground and white houses, and a page can show both. Timanfaya opens the book with the rust and red cones of the fire mountains. The white villages, Haría and Teguise, follow. The green lagoon at El Golfo and the salt pans at Janubio are close together on the west coast and can share a spread. The last is for César Manrique, who built Jameos del Agua into a lava tube and the Mirador del Río into a cliff.
The vines on the cover grow in La Geria, each one in a hollow dug into the ash, with a low stone wall against the wind. Stop at a bodega there and soak the label off a bottle of Malvasía. At Timanfaya the guides pour water into a hole in the ground and it comes back as steam, so have the camera ready before they pour.
