Making your Tuscany photo book
Most of what you photograph in Tuscany is a horizon, so give each one a whole spread. The Val d'Orcia fills the opening pages: the cypress lines near San Quirico and the chapel of Vitaleta alone on its ridge. Florence comes next, the river and the Ponte Vecchio seen from Piazzale Michelangelo. Then a hill town, Montepulciano or the towers of San Gimignano. Keep the last spread for the long lunch at the agriturismo, plates and all.
On spring and autumn mornings mist lies in the Val d'Orcia valleys and burns off by about nine, which is the reason to get up early. The estate's tasting sheet and a receipt from the Mercato Centrale both scan flat.
