Making your Gran Canaria photo book
Gran Canaria packs a lot onto one round island. The dunes at Maspalomas run down to the lighthouse and need a page of their own. Inland, Roque Nublo and the pine forest above Tejeda show the middle of the island, and the ravines on the drive up give you another spread. Puerto de Mogán, with its painted houses and little canals, sits well in the middle of the book. Finish in Las Palmas, in the old quarter of Vegueta and on the long city beach of Las Canteras.
Walk into the dunes early, when the night wind has wiped out yesterday's footprints and the sand is still cool. Roque Nublo is a short climb from the car park at La Goleta, and in the morning the valley below is often full of cloud. Hold on to a bus ticket and the menu from a fish place in Mogán.
