Making your Naples photo book
Naples is dense and built upwards, and a tall page holds it. Spaccanapoli, the long straight street through the old centre, is where the book starts. The Spanish Quarter and its Maradona mural come next, washing strung between the balconies. From Castel Sant'Elmo on the Vomero the whole bay opens out with Vesuvius across it, and that view needs a page. Close with a day out, Pompeii on the Circumvesuviana or the ferry to Procida.
Vesuvius goes pink at sunset from the seafront on Via Caracciolo, because the light hits the mountain, so stand with Posillipo behind you. Around Via dei Tribunali the pizzerias sell a margherita folded in paper for the street, called a portafoglio, and the paper is worth smoothing out. Pompeii takes longer than people expect. Arrive at opening with water.
