Making your Paris photo book
Hang a Paris book on the river. Open on the Seine from the Pont des Arts, the Île de la Cité in the middle of it, and turn the page to the Eiffel Tower seen from Trocadéro. Montmartre fills the middle of the book, the steps to Sacré-Cœur and the grey city spread out under them. Save the end for the café you kept going back to, and for the Marais on a Sunday, when its streets are given over to walkers.
Paris roofs are zinc and turn blue just after sunset; the roof terrace of the Galeries Lafayette is free and looks straight at the Opéra. The paper bag from the boulangerie is printed with the shop's name and lies flat in a book.
