Making your Phuket photo book
Phuket is an island of bays, and a spread across two pages gives each one its width. Use spread one for a quiet beach in the north, Nai Thon or Banana Beach. Spread two is Phang Nga Bay, where limestone stacks rise out of green water; James Bond Island is the famous one. Put the longtail boats at Railay or Phi Phi on the third spread. The painted shophouses of Old Phuket Town and a sunset from Promthep Cape close the book.
The west coast faces the sunset, and Promthep Cape fills up an hour before it, so go early for a spot on the rocks. Shoot the limestone stacks in the morning, before the haze. Old Phuket Town is best on a Sunday evening, when the walking street opens on Thalang Road. Keep the ticket from the Phang Nga boat trip for a flat picture.
