Making your Rhodes photo book
Rhodes splits into the walled old town and Lindos down the coast. Walk the Street of the Knights up to the Palace of the Grand Master to begin. Mandraki harbour, with a bronze deer on each column at its mouth, comes after. Lindos needs two pages, the acropolis above the white town and St Paul's Bay below. Then the boat to Symi, its painted houses stacked round the harbour, makes a good last spread.
The climb to the Lindos acropolis has almost no shade, so be there when it opens. In the old town, eat a lane or two back from Sokratous Street; the tavernas are quieter and their paper tablecloths photograph well.
