Rovaniemi photo book
A4 portrait, 21 x 29.7 cm, Hardback, 24 pages
A portrait hardback for a winter in Lapland, with a reindeer in a red scarf on its cream cover. Fill it with the Arctic Circle line at Santa Claus Village, snow-loaded spruce on Ounasvaara and the aurora over your cabin.
Shown with sample photos. You add your own and can change every page.
Making your Rovaniemi photo book
Rovaniemi gives you a winter book by itself. Put the Arctic Circle line at Santa Claus Village and the frozen Kemijoki, seen from the Lumberjack's Candle Bridge, on the first spread. Give spread two to the forest after fresh snow, when the spruce on Ounasvaara carry so much of it they stop looking like trees. Spread three can take a husky ride or the reindeer farm, and spread four the cabin you slept in under one dark sky, ideally with the aurora in it.
In December the sun barely clears the hills, and the light that matters is a long pink and blue dusk around midday. Shoot then, cold hands and all. The certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle fills a page well if you lay it on the floor and photograph it from above. Phone batteries die fast at minus twenty, so keep a spare inside your coat.
