Making your Seville photo book
Seville sorts itself into four spreads without much help. Plaza de España, with its canal and a tiled alcove for every Spanish province, takes the first. The Alcázar gardens and the Giralda belong together on the next. Then the whitewashed lanes of Santa Cruz. Cross the river to Triana for the last, for the pottery shops on Calle Alfarería and the view back from the Puente de Isabel II. Metropol Parasol, the wooden mushroom in Plaza de la Encarnación, is where the rooftop picture comes from.
The oranges on the cover line the streets and nobody eats them; most are shipped to Britain for marmalade. In summer the heat shuts the city after noon, so go out early and again after nine. Pick one alcove at Plaza de España and shoot its tiles square on. A ticket from a flamenco show in Triana is worth keeping.
