Making your Sri Lanka photo book
Sri Lanka changes height and weather every few hours, and the book can follow the railway line inland. Galle Fort is the start, its ramparts and the lighthouse at the end of them. Next comes the hill country, tea estates around Nuwara Eliya and the blue train climbing to Ella. The Nine Arch Bridge and the view from Little Adam's Peak fill the third spread. A safari at Yala or Minneriya, where elephants gather by the reservoir in the dry months, ends it.
The Ella train fills fast, so book a reserved seat and stand at the open door when it slows through the tea. Mist settles on the hills after lunch, and the clear views are in the morning. A paper train ticket and a tea packet from a factory visit both look good shot flat.
