Making your Bali photo book

Most Bali books begin in Ubud. The Tegallalang rice terraces seen from the top of the slope give spread one its green, with a carved temple gate beside them. Put the coast on spread two, Kelingking on Nusa Penida with the cliff dropping into the sea. A plate of nasi campur and a shrine in a garden pond fill spread three. Close with the waves at Uluwatu or the sunset at Tanah Lot.

Get to the terraces before eight, when the light is soft and the swings are not yet busy. At Tanah Lot, low tide lets you walk out and sunset gives the photograph. The canang sari offerings left on pavements every morning are small, and a close picture of one fits a corner. Photograph the pattern of the sarong you borrowed at a temple, flat on the floor.
