Making your Tenerife photo book
Tenerife is one mountain with a coast around it, and a tall page suits a climb from the sea to the snow. Teide gets a spread, with the cable car and the lava fields of Las Cañadas. On the west side the cliffs at Los Gigantes drop straight into the sea. Give the green north its own pages, La Orotava's wooden balconies and the black sand at Benijo below the Anaga hills. The seawater pools at Puerto de la Cruz, laid out by César Manrique, end it well.
Book the Teide cable car ahead and go early. Cloud often sits below you, and at 3,555 metres the air is thin and cold, so take a jumper. The tree on the cover is a dragon tree, and the old one stands at Icod de los Vinos. Papas arrugadas arrive on a small plate with red and green mojo, easy to shoot from straight above.
