Making your Tulum photo book

Tulum is a Mayan ruin on a cliff above the sea, and that one view earns the first spread: El Castillo with the beach below it. Water is the second, Gran Cenote and Dos Ojos seen through a snorkel mask. The beach road, its wooden signs and the bikes leaning on them, is the third. Cobá, where you cycle between the ruins, or a boat into Sian Ka'an, makes a good last one.

The ruins open at eight, and by ten the coaches from Cancún arrive, so go early and leave when it fills up. The beach road is dark after sunset, so photograph it by day. Keep the paper wristband a cenote gives you at the gate and shoot it flat beside your ruins ticket.
