Making your Valencia photo book
Valencia has two cities to fit in, and the book can split them evenly. The old one is the Barrio del Carmen and the Central Market under its glass dome. The new one is the white Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, built in the dry bed of the Turia after the river was moved. Cycle the park that replaced it and you have the middle spreads. Malvarrosa beach and a paella at El Palmar, out among the Albufera rice fields, close the book.
Paella here is lunch, cooked to order for two or more, so photograph the pan when it lands and before anybody digs in. The crust at the bottom is the socarrat. Take the bus out to the Albufera lagoon for sunset; the boatmen at El Palmar row you out onto the water. A Fallas programme from March lies flat.
