Three things set the price: the cover, the number of pages and delivery.

Softcover at its starting page count costs least. Hardback adds rigid boards. Matte hardback adds a paper with no shine. Lay-flat costs most, because it opens flat and is made in Europe.

Each design shows its price and UK delivery before you start. The studio adds up the total as you add pages.

A second copy of the same book in the same order costs less to post than the first.

What you pay for

Printing and binding are charged per book and per page. VAT, the card fee and the post come on top, and all of them are in the price you see.

The cover makes the biggest difference between one book and the next. The page count comes second.

How to pay less

Choose fewer photos before you add pages. Most books run long because nobody cut anything.

A 20-page softcover at two or three photos a page holds 40 to 60 photos. That covers a week away or a year of a small child.

Put more photos on a page rather than adding pages. A grid of six small photos costs the same as one full-page photo.

Order softcover for copies you give away and a hardback for the one you keep. Choose lay-flat only when a photo has to cross the middle.

The same at every price

Every cover gets the same designs and the same studio. You see a proof of every page before you pay.

Softcover and hardback are both printed in the UK.

Ordering several copies

Order copies for each grandparent in one go. Each copy is the full book price, but the second and later copies cost less to post, so one order costs less than several.

Questions

What is the cheapest photo book here?

A softcover at its starting page count. Its price and UK delivery are shown beside every design.

Why does lay-flat cost so much more?

It is a different binding, made in Europe and posted from there. Choose it only when photos need to cross the fold.

Is anything added at checkout?

No. The book price and UK delivery are shown before you start, and the studio shows the total for the pages you add.

Is a cheap book lower quality?

No. The pages are printed the same way as a hardback's. You get a thinner cover and pay less.

How many pages can a softcover have?

20 to 300 pages. A hardback takes 24 to 300, and lay-flat 18 to 122.
